A spokeswoman for Mikheil Saakashvili claims he was "kidnapped" by "Ukrainian bandits." The politician had been facing a deportation order after his appeal was rejected by a court last week.
Ukraine's government has deported former Georgian President Mikheil Saakashvili to Poland. In an interview with DW, he called on Ukrainians to take to the streets in protest, and discussed his plans in Warsaw.
With the EU easing travel restrictions for Ukrainians, Warsaw is worried fewer of its eastern neighbors will come to Poland for work. Cheap Ukrainian labor has helped contain inflation and boost growth.
