Emrah E. is standing trial for phoning in a false terrorist threat back in 2010. The 25 year old son of Turkish immigrants grew up in western Germany. He was arrested in Tanzania last year.
A new terrorist threat was on the agenda as German Interior Minister Thomas de Maiziere met EU security head Julian King. That was after King told a German paper the latest fighting in Iraq could mean trouble for Europe.
According to data obtained by Welt newspaper, German authorities knew more than a year in advance that Anis Amri presented a clear danger. Intelligence services may have hoped that he would lead them to other terrorists.
In the wake of terrorist attacks, one of the key questions is who will cover the damages. Demand for special insurance policies is on the rise. The risk potential, however, remains completely incalculable.
