E-Plus Extends German GSM/GPRS Network

German mobile operator E-Plus has commissioned Siemens Mobile to expand its GSM/GPRS mobile network in Germany, according to a statement released on Thursday. The agreement, described as being worth a two-digit million euro amount, will run for two years and will require Siemens to install E-Plus compatible GSM base stations and necessary components to offer GPRS services across Germany. The statement said that the expansion of the existing E-Plus network, which reaches 193,000 users, will increase the mobile operator’s capacity and complete overall coverage in the country. In addition, the two companies have also agreed to extend a framework contract to 2013.
