A car bomb exploded near the headquarters of Syria's ruling party and the Russian Embassy on Thursday, with reports of dozens dead and wounded.
Iraq's military says it has killed several senior IS members in Syria's city of Hajin. The airstrike was part of an ongoing operation approved by the Damascus government and the US-led coalition fighting the militants.
A regime offensive in southern Syria has threatened to displace thousands near the Jordanian border. The US has warned Damascus of upending a ceasefire in the area, saying it will take "firm and appropriate measures."
For the first time in seven years, all of wider Damascus is now under government control. Islamists have abandoned the city of al-Hajar al-Aswad, south of the capital.
Gaza medics have said four people have been killed and some 600 wounded during rallies along the border fence. The demonstrations coincided with Al-Quds Day, an anti-Israeli day of protests held across the Middle East.
