This time we visit Berlin, Lake Werbellin, the Zugspitze Mountain and the Wasserkuppe
Museum Island in the heart of Berlin is a complex of five museums built on an island in the River Spree over the course of 130 years. Since 1999, the architectural ensemble has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
Musician and event manager Sören Birke recommends visiting the Kulturbrauerei, Rosenthaler Platz and the Schokoladen culture club if you’re in Berlin.
Yearning to get back to nature? There’s plenty of greenery in the countryside around Berlin, and a great way to see it is on a bicycle tour from Eberswalde to Lake Werbellin, enjoying the scenery along the Finow Canal, eating locally smoked fish and taking a dip in the lake at the end of the tour. A day trip for tired city-dwellers and nature lovers.
Nature and culture go hand in hand in Hessen. At 950 meters, the Wasserkuppe is the highest hill in the Rhön region and a popular place to go gliding or paragliding. Art lovers will enjoy the Baroque town of Weilburg. The extensive palace grounds and a replica of the Chinese terracotta warriors are well worth a visit.
We accompany our Indonesian viewer Ni Luh Eka Fritz up Germany’s highest mountain, the Zugspitze.
