Deutsche Welle won the silver medal in the 'environment' category at New York International Radio Festival. The winning radio series was 'Die Ostsee im Wandel', an international co-production by DW-RADIO and associate broadcasting stations in Lithuania, St. Petersburg und Kaliningrad.

This marked DW's fourth consecutive achievement at the New York Festival, which this year welcomed 500 broadcasters from 18 different nations.

Sabine Hartert and Peter Koppen picked up the jury's award for DW-RADIO's International Co-production feature series that deals with environmental pollution and nature conservation in Lithuania, St. Petersburg und Kaliningrad. The radio series portrays the Baltic Sea and the tension between the economic progression of the neighbour states and the environmental awareness of their inhabitants. The series received financial backing from the European Union.

Adding to this resounding success, DW- RADIO's weekly, hour-long European show 'Inside Europe' reached the New York finalist category for 'best news magazine'.
