Beijing has warned Germany of "defending Tibet independence," saying the match host must ensure respect between the countries. The activists said they only wanted to highlight the plight of Tibetans in China.
There promises to be more controversy when China's under-20 football team play their second match as part of a German tour. Their first game was interrupted after protesters displayed Tibetan flags in the stadium.
The road to the Olympics has begun for China's U20 team. A friendly at fourth-division TSV Schott Mainz saw the Chinese players walk off the field after activists unfurled a Tibetan flag.
