Cereal maker Kellogg is facing legal action by Germany’s leading consumer protection agency for its advertising campaign aimed at school-age children. The Federation of German Consumer Organizations has filed a suit in a Bremen court over the “Kellogg’s Frosties for School Sports” campaign, in which children are asked to collect coupons from cereal boxes and trade them in for school sports equipment. The consumer organization said it feared such a program would lead to commercial advertising in the classroom. “We don’t want American-style advertising in the schools,” said Edda Müller, chairwoman of the consumer group. “Students are there to learn. Therefore we need clear boundaries concerning commerce in the classroom.”
