US President Donald Trump has said he'll announce his decision on the Paris climate accord on Thursday. The European Union has said it stands ready to show leadership in the face of a possible US withdrawal.
President Trump's controversial decision isn't all bad news for the African continent, as many countries seek to be self-reliant in terms of climate change adaptation and move closer towards a clean energy industry.
The Paris deal is too costly for the US, said Donald Trump as he withdrew his country from the accord. The US now joins Syria and Nicaragua as the only nations not to support the landmark global climate change deal.
On World Environment Day, US governors, mayors and business leaders have promised to uphold the Paris climate deal even if Washington won't. The US Climate Alliance is attracting members from across the country.
