Carbon Capture and Storage (CCS): Energy utility Vattenfall runs a CCS demonstration plant near the German-Polish boarder

Constanze TressFebruary 19, 2009

Carbon Capture and Storage , or CCS, is a way to capture the greenhouse gases produced when fossil fuels are combusted. Employing CCS technology would allow Germany to reduce imports of natural gas and use cheaper domestic coal. This would result in lower costs for carbon certificates. In Spremberg near the German-Polish boarder, energy utility Vattenfall runs a CCS demonstration plant which is already attracting great interest from abroad.
