Can Tough Terror Laws Help Tackle Terrorism?

After winning unanimous approval from the lower house of the parliament, India’s new anti-terror legislation has now been tabled in the upper house. The new law would allow police to hold suspects for up to six months for investigation. The Indian government is under intense public pressure to act after last month’s Mumbai attacks that killed over 170 people.
