The FBI says it is treating the mass shooting in San Bernardino as an "act of terrorism". Investigators say the female attacker had pledged allegiance to the Islamic State group on Facebook. An Islamic State radio broadcast hailed the perpetrators.
The terror group says that the man who killed eight people and injured 12 is their "soldier." However, IS has been known to claim attacks to which it has no direct link, such as last year's deadly shooting in Orlando.
Australian police have arrested a suspected "Islamic State" sympathizer, who they allege was planning a mass shooting. The site of the planned attack is a focal point for Melbourne's New Year's Eve celebrations.
"Islamic State" has claimed responsibility for a knife attack in Brussels on Friday. A man armed with a machete was shot dead after attacking soldiers in the Belgian capital.
Police have arrested a man who allegedly drove a pickup truck along a busy bicycle lane, killing eight people. The FBI says another man is wanted for questioning in connection with the attack.
