Germanwings, the low-cost airline partly owned by Lufthansa, has announced the expansion of its destination network from April 1. The airline currently provides services to 11 cities across Europe at bargain basement prices and will be increasing its reach as part of its expanded summer flight schedule. Italian cities Bologna and Venice will be added to existing destinations Rome and Milan while Dresden, Prague, Edinburgh, Lisbon and Thessaloniki will provide further options for bargain hunting travellers. Germanwings is a new competitor in the low-cost sector led by Ryanair and Easyjet and sells one-way tickets at prices as low as €20.
