The killing of opposition leader Boris Nemtsov was the most high-profile political assassination in recent years. A court heard a former Chechen security official ordered the murder for a $270,000 (237,000 euro) bounty.
The Russian activist Ildar Dadin has been awarded the Boris Nemtsov Prize, established to honor those fighting for democratic values in Russia. Dadin was sentenced to a prison term for staging anti-government protests.
Russia has sentenced five people for the murder of opposition leader Boris Nemtsov. Zaur Dadayev, who at one point confessed and then later recanted, was sentenced to 20 years in prison for the 2015 assassination.
