According to army reports, four bombers blew themselves up in the city of Maiduguri in Northeastern Nigeria, killing 10 people and wounding dozens more. The attack is typical of Islamist group Boko Haram. DW met Halile Ibrahim, one of its victims.
The freed suspects will undergo rehabilitation before reuniting with their families. The trials are part of Nigeria's biggest legal probe into the militant Islamist insurgency that has plagued its northeastern region.
Nigeria's military has said it rescued scores of girls who went missing after a militant attack on a school earlier this week. Their abduction was similar to the case of the 276 Chibok girls, who were taken in 2014.
