BMW Net Profit Slips

BMW, the German maker of luxury cars, said Wednesday that the strong euro ate into bottom-line rnis in the second quarter, when net profit slipped by 1.1 percent to 663 million euros ($809 million). Pre-tax profit was down 15 percent at 916 million euros, while sales edged forward by 2.1 percent to 12.15 billion euros in the period from April to June, BMW said in a statement. Looking ahead to the full year, the car maker said it expected earnings to come out "more or less" unchanged compared with 2004.
