Since last July's failed coup in Turkey, some 22 German nationals have been arrested there. Nine are still in prison. They include journalists, translators and human rights activists. One of them is Mesale Tolu. She's been in detention since May 1.
The German journalist has called on Berlin to "stand up for the victims of human rights violations" in Turkey. A court has blocked Tolu from leaving Turkey pending a trial over alleged membership in a terror group.
