Just weeks after a similar attack killed 29 people in the Turkish capital Ankara, a devastating car bomb has yet again claimed dozens of lives and injured more than a hundred. Authorities say they are pursuing concrete leads in the hunt for bombers.
Turkey has arrested 14 lawyers whom Ankara accuses of having terrorist ties. The case is related to that of two jailed teachers on hunger strike and adds to an unknown number of lawyers now sitting in Turkish prisons.
Ankara has summoned Germany's ambassador after more than 10,000 Kurds rallied in Cologne. The rally was in support of Kurdish independence as well as the jailed leader of the banned PKK.
Germany has been supporting mediation efforts between Qatar and several Arab nations that accuse the tiny country of supporting terrorism. Emir Al Thani's made Berlin one of his first stops since the crisis erupted.
