Alvaro Dávila: Fighting Poverty in Colobia

Today, "microbanking" is emerging all over the world as a concept for fighting poverty. In Columbia, it has been around for 100 years.

Founded by a Jesuit priest, the Fundacion Social is now the umbrella organization of a group of banks and insurance companies with three and a half million customers in the lowest income class. It's goal is to help people become self-sufficient. It offers small loans, but also courses on business management and marketing. Alvaro Dávila, the head of the foundation, showed us his projects in the capital, Bogotá. A report by Matthias Kopp.
