The Canadian province of British Columbia has evacuated thousands of people as dry weather continues to fuel blazes, with 138 new fires starting in the last days. They are believed to be the worst wildfires in a decade.
Fires are barreling across the western United States and Canada, forcing thousands of residents to flee and destroying homes. Two major wildfires in California have forced a total of more than 10,000 people to evacuate.
Firefighters are struggling to contain wildfires in the US state of California, with heat and dry wind fanning the flames. One of the fires temporarily trapped scores of children and their summer camp counselors.
Officials fear the massive fire could double in size by the end of Saturday as they continue to evacuate residents. Fire has engulfed tens of thousands of hectares and destroyed thousands of structures.
