European plane maker Airbus has sold 15 planes to Spirit Airlines, company officials announced at the Berlin Air Show on Tuesday. Spirit might also buy another 50 planes at a later date, according to Airbus spokespeople. The deal, worth billions of euros, is putting Airbus on course to repeat its successful performance in 2003. For the first time, Airbus had taken over American rival Boeing in terms of planes sold last year. Company officials announced they planned to sell at least 305 planes in 2004 as well.
