Germany's anti-immigrant party Alternative for Germany (AfD) has rejected allegations of extremist tendencies in its own ranks. "We are opposed to any form of extremism," AfD co-leader Jörg Meuthen said at a conference in Berlin.

In response to questioning by the far-right AfD, Berlin's Interior Ministry has requested police speak German at work. But it has stressed that the ability to speak other languages is generally helpful.
