A vacuum packed additive rescues Prague’s heritage

A vacuum packing machine, normally used for preserving meat, cheese and other perishable goods, is being used to save thousands of historic books damaged in last year’s flood in Prague. The 120 thousand dollar system which speeds up the drying process of waterlogged books was donated by the British council. Without it, the job of restoring an important part of the city's heritage could have taken decades. From Prague Malcolm Brabant reports.
