In southern Saxony-Anhalt there are more than 30 castles and palaces to discover, and monasteries and churches as well. Naumburg Cathedral, for instance, is considered a medieval masterpiece.
Along the Saale and Unstrut rivers the Middle Ages have truly left their mark: castles, monasteries, churches and vineyards. At its heart is Naumburg Cathedral. The region is applying for UNESCO World Heritage status.
