Israeli officials now say 3 Palestinians have been shot dead today in East Jerusalem and the West Bank while trying to stab Israelis. Such attacks have seen a sharp rise in October.
King Abdullah II has flown to the West Bank to meet with Palestinian President Abbas for the first time in five years. The trip is being viewed as a message to Israel, particularly over a flashpoint Jerusalem holy site.
Israel has again banned men under 50 from entering the contentious holy site in Jerusalem for Friday prayers. The move comes after more than 100 people were injured in clashes.
Tensions in the West Bank have flared enormously with deaths on both sides of the conflict. Israel has now appeared to offer some concessions over contentious security precautions that led to bloody violence.
Several Palestinians have been reported killed in protests in Jerusalem over restrictions at Haram al-Sharif, also known as Temple Mount. Palestinian President Abbas meanwhile froze relations with Israel.
