The curfew was imposed following the death of a senior Hurriyat Conference leader Sheikh Abdul Aziz on Monday. Aziz and three other protestors died when police fired on a huge march towards the Kashmiri border with Pakistan against what they called an economic blockade by Hindus.
The situation has been tense in Kashmir since June, when the stte government transferred a piece of land to a Hindu trust.
The move sparked protests in Kashmir, prompting the government to scrap the land transfer last month. The Hindus are now demanding that the government reverse the move.
