September 27, 2004 DiamondWare Selected for the Pulver 100 Mesa, AZ Sep 27, 2004 DiamondWare, Ltd. is pleased to announce today its selection for the 2004 Pulver 100. This award recognizes DiamondWare for its many innovations including inventing 3D conferencing, solving the latency and QoS problems inherent in the PC, and developing a converged next-generation application, Palantir. Palantir is currently deployed by US military forces, with a commercial version to be available soon. Designed for an always-on network, with computers as edge devices connected by SIP, Palantir is not merely a new application but a new paradigm. Software replaces a myriad of CPE boxes, lines, and service providers. Keith Weiner, CEO of DiamondWare, said, "We are excited that Pulver.com has validated our position as a leader in VoIP." He added, "Palantir saves users money, but that is not what it is really about. The value proposition is higher productivity by increasing knowledge velocity in the enterprise. We think that is more exciting than squeezing the last few pennies out of a minute of voice." "After 9/11 there was a lot of hype about web conferencing. Shared PowerPoint slides are an interesting feature, but this hardly replaces the experience of a face-to-face meeting. And so we still wait in security lines and get on planes every day," said Erik Lorenzen, DiamondWare's VP of Engineering. "Palantir, with its unique capability to position each voice in a virtual conference space provides the audio experience of a real meeting or an open-plan office. 3D voice is a major step forwards, and not a mere feature." The Pulver 100 list features private companies in the communications sector that have substantial real-world deployments and enjoy significant growth rates. The value chain characterized by the Pulver 100 differs from the vertically integrated telecom model of the last century, focusing more on a networking-industry model that espouses open interfaces, connectivity decoupled from services, and software decoupled from hardware. "2004 has been the year of VoIP—and the companies named in the Pulver 100 have made significant contributions, by helping to spread IP communications worldwide with little or no dependence on traditional telephone network, equipment, or service providers," said Jeff Pulver, CEO of pulver.com. "This year's Pulver 100 represents the future of the communications ecosystem, and we're proud to honor them." DiamondWare will be exhibiting at Fall VON, Oct 18-21 in Boston, in booth 826.
